Every year, I am asked by first year parents about this activity, and I find it hard to really explain. I usually say “you have to see it to get it”, and offer this clinical explanation.

“The indoor Percussion Ensemble consists of the marching battery and front ensemble sections of a marching band with the addition of synthesizers, electric guitar, bass guitar, and drum set. It incorporates drill with other disciplines from the performing arts to create a theatrical presentation.”

The explanation give you an idea, but it lacks the human elements that makes the activity so special. Above, is a YouTube video of The Best of WGI 2010. I think it will give you an idea of why we spend countless hours perfecting our performance, and why it is all worth it.
